Public Inquiry in response to an appeal by Barratt (Southern Counties) against the refusal for planning permission (LW/02/1914) relating to development of the the King's Mead School site

(April 2003)

The latest correspondence from Lewes District Council indicates that Barratt Southern Counties are having a Public Inquiry into the refusal of planning permisssion for Application LW/02/1914, which was one of their earlier applications (the other one was withdrawn).

The letter is dated 9th April yet it says that Appeal starting date is 2nd April and letter says that they will write again when date and venue of inquiry has been arranged!

Interested parties can attend either personally or through a representative, and, at the Planning Inspector's discretion, make representations to him. Apparently any comments already made will be taken into account but there is would be no harm in writing to him again. Representations have to be made within 6 weeks of appeal starting date (i.e. 2nd April) to The Planning Inspectorate, at Room 3/04a, Kite Wing, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol BS1 9PN.

It is of note that, while local residents are considering their latest applications, which might appear more acceptable, here they are trying to appeal against their earlier plans which were clearly unacceptable.
