Preparatory School for Boys

KING'S MEAD was designed and built as a Preparatory School far about 80 boys between the ages of 8 and 14, who are trained and educated for entry to the Public Schools, either by the Common Entrance or Scholarship Examinations.

It stands on high ground overlooking the sea, surrounded by playing fields of over 12 acres.

The Buildings include Class Rooms with a special room for the younger boys, a Library comfortably furnished and containing over 1,000 volumes, School Chapel, Gymnasium Changing Room with showers, Carpenters Shop, Science Room, Model Making Room, Train Room, Stage, Music and Art Rooms. Most Dormitories and Class Rooms face South.

In the grounds are an open-air Swimming Bath, a Model Yacht Sailing Pond, Sand-pit, Tennis Courts and Shooting Range.

There is a modem sick wing well isolated from the rest of the School.

The School has been inspected and examined by H.M. Ministry of Education and certified " Efficient."

Every effort is made to develop individual talents and interests and to fit each boy to make his mark at his Public School.

Art and Carpentry are included in the curriculum for the lower forms. Our of School activities of many kinds are encouraged. These include Gardening, Shooting, Tennis, Swimming, Natural History, Archaeology, Table Tennis, Stamp Collecting, Chess, Carpentry, Dancing, Badminton, Billiards, Model Making, Art and Music.

Careful attention is given to School Games and Physical Culture. Cricket is played in the Summer Term, Soccer in the Autumn Term, and Rugger, Soccer and some Hockey in the Easter Term.

Mrs. Barrett personally supervises the health and catering of the School. There are also a Matron and two Assistant Matrons

Fees:

Board and Tuition 128 Guineas per term

These Fees are inclusive and are due on or before the first day of the term. A full term's notice -- or the equivalent fee -- is required before the removal of a boy or the withdrawal of his entry No remission of fees can be made in cases of absence, or closure of the School on Medical Advice, as a School Fees Insurance Scheme is
available.

In the event of a boy being entered more than 3 years ahead, no entry fee will be payable until 3 years previous to entry date, when confirmation of the entry will be asked for, together with a Fee of Ten Guineas which is not recoverable.

Entries made for a less period than 3 years ahead will be subject to the Ten Guineas fee at the time of entering the boy.

A Composition Fee may be paid in advance to cover the cost of a boy's education for his full time at the School. Details may be had from the Headmaster

Art, Pianoforte, and Violin Lessons may be taken as extras. So also may Riding Lessons and Tennis Coaching under the supervision of qualified and experienced instructors.

No charge is made far instruction in Dancing, Boxing, Shooting
or School Games.
