King's Mead main hall

The plaster-work over the fireplace in the main hall. Photo taken shortly before the school building was pulled down. It had, presumably, been painted over after the school had been sold as the photo below and others of the hall show that it was originally white.

The Ram, the Bull, the Heavenly Twins
And next the Crab, the Lion shines;
The Virgin and the Scales.
The Scorpion, Archer and the Goat,
The Man who bears the Watering Pot,
The Fish with the glittering Tails

(from a traditional rhyme -)
